Innova Star Daedalus 13 | 6 | -3 | 2

Looking for a max distance driver that doesn't require tour-level arm speed to get down the fairway? The Innova Star Daedalus is a 13-speed, understable distance driver built specifically to give intermediate and advancing players massive glide and easy distance. Named after the mythical Greek inventor of flight, it excels on wide-open holes and long tailwind shots where you need the disc to stay in the air as long as possible. Check out our live inventory below to pick your exact disc weight and color, or browse the complete Innova Daedalus Collection to build out your Innova lineup.

Flight Numbers & Performance

The Daedalus features flight numbers of 13 | 6 | -3 | 2. It has a wide 2.3 cm rim and a standard 21.1 cm overall diameter. Usually, a 13-speed driver is going to dump left almost immediately unless you throw it 400+ feet. The Daedalus is different. With its heavy -3 turn and high 6 glide, it wants to flip up, turn over, and ride the wind, making it way more usable for the average disc golfer.

How the Star Daedalus fits your game:

  • Beginners & Advancing Players: If you are stepping up to a 13-speed driver for the first time, this is a great choice. The understability helps keep the disc straight longer before it fades out.
  • Intermediate Arms: This is a hyzer-flip machine. Throw it on a hyzer angle, watch it flip up flat, ride to the right (for RHBH), and finish with a soft fade for maximum S-curve distance.
  • Advanced Players: Use the Daedalus for massive tailwind bombs, long sweeping turnovers that never fight back, or as a dedicated max-distance roller.

Star Plastic

Innova’s Star plastic is the go-to premium blend for most players. It offers an incredible balance of high-end durability and all-weather grip. Compared to Champion plastic, Star plastic is a bit softer and grippier, which is especially nice in colder or wetter conditions. A Star Daedalus will generally beat in a little faster than a Champion one, meaning you'll get to that sweet spot of perfect understability slightly sooner.

If you prefer a slightly stiffer, more translucent plastic that takes longer to beat in, check out the other option we carry:

  • Champion Daedalus: Innova's ultra-durable, translucent plastic. It usually starts off just a touch more stable than Star out of the box and holds its flight characteristics for a very long time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Daedalus too fast for a beginner?

Normally, a 13-speed disc is not recommended for a beginner because it requires a lot of arm speed. However, because the Daedalus has a -3 turn and a 6 glide, it is one of the most forgiving 13-speed drivers out there. While brand-new players should stick to fairways, advancing beginners can definitely use the Daedalus to squeeze out some extra distance.

How does Star plastic compare to Champion for the Daedalus?

Star plastic provides a grippier, softer feel in the hand and usually beats in a bit faster than Champion. A brand new Star Daedalus will likely show its understable flight characteristics slightly sooner than a brand new Champion Daedalus, which tends to start off a tiny bit more stable.

What is the Daedalus best used for?

The Daedalus is best for max distance throws in open fields, especially with a tailwind. It is great for hyzer-flips and big, panning S-curves where you have plenty of room to work the disc left to right.
