Discraft Buzzz OS
The Complete Discraft Buzzz OS Collection Hub
The Buzzz OS is the overstable version of the Buzzz, the most popular midrange Discraft makes. It has the same flat, beadless feel, but it won't turn over and it finishes with a stronger fade. Discraft built it as the partner to your Buzzz for headwinds, forehands and straight shots that need a hard finish. It's part of our Midrange Disc Collection and the full Discraft Discs Collection, and this hub collects every Buzzz OS we stock in one place.
Understanding the Flight Dynamics & Stability
Every Buzzz OS carries 5 | 4 | 0 | 3. The 5 speed keeps it easy to throw, the 4 glide gives it the same carry as a regular Buzzz, the 0 turn means it holds its line under power, and the 3 fade brings it back with a strong, reliable finish. Discraft rates the Z Line version at 1.7 on their stability scale. It's 21.7 cm across and 1.7 cm tall with a 1.2 cm rim depth and no bead, and it was PDGA approved in July 2014. The plastic changes the feel and how long it keeps that flight.
| Speed | Glide | Turn | Fade |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 4 | 0 | 3 |
What this collection brings to your game:
- Torque Resistance: Hard forehands and power throws hold their line instead of flipping over.
- Wind Control: It holds its line into headwinds when a regular Buzzz would get pushed around.
- Reliable Finish: It stays straight through most of the flight and fades out at the end instead of dumping right away.
Choose the Right Buzzz OS Plastic
Every Buzzz OS flies 5 | 4 | 0 | 3. Here's how the plastics we carry compare:
- Z Line Buzzz OS - Discraft's firm, translucent premium plastic. It's the most durable Buzzz OS and keeps its overstable flight the longest, so it's the pick for windy days.
- ESP Buzzz OS - Discraft's grippy, opaque premium plastic, often with swirls. It grips well in the hand and seasons a touch faster than Z.
Want a different stability? The Discraft Buzzz (5 | 4 | -1 | 1) is the straight, neutral original, and the Discraft Buzzz SS (5 | 4 | -2 | 1) is the understable version for turnovers and hyzer flips.
How this Category Aligns on the Fairway
Pull the Buzzz OS when a regular Buzzz would turn over or get pushed around: forehand drives and upshots, headwind shots, controlled hyzers and straight lines that need a dependable fade at the end. It's overstable without being a pure utility disc, so a lot of players carry it right next to their Buzzz and grab it when the wind picks up. Keep a Z Line Buzzz OS for the windiest days, and an ESP one for better grip.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Discraft Buzzz OS
How does the Buzzz OS compare to the regular Buzzz?
Same feel, more stability. The Buzzz (5 | 4 | -1 | 1) flies straight with a soft finish. The Buzzz OS (5 | 4 | 0 | 3) won't turn over and fades harder at the end, so it's the one for wind and forehands. A lot of players carry both.
What weight Buzzz OS should I get?
Most Buzzz OS discs we stock are in the 170s. Heavier ones, up near max weight, fly a little more stable and hold up better in wind. Lighter ones are easier to throw with slower arm speed. If you're not sure, a mid 170s Buzzz OS is a safe pick.
Is the Buzzz OS good for beginners?
It's playable for newer players, but it fades more than a regular Buzzz, so slower arm speeds will see it finish early. Most beginners do better starting with a Buzzz or Buzzz SS and adding the OS later for forehands and windy days. Intermediate and advanced players get the most out of it.
