The Complete Discraft Focus Collection Hub

The Focus is Discraft's big-bead putter and Anthony Barela's putter of choice. It's slow, deep and stable, with a straight flight and a gentle fade, so it's easy to trust inside the circle and on short approaches. It's part of our Putter Collection and the full Discraft Discs Collection, and this hub collects every Focus we stock in one place.

Understanding the Flight Dynamics & Stability

Every Focus carries 2 | 2 | -1 | 2. The 2 speed and 2 glide keep it slow and under control, the -1 turn lets it hold a straight line on a smooth putt, and the 2 fade brings it back gently at the end. Discraft rates it 0.5 on their stability scale, a touch on the stable side. It's 21.1 cm across and 2.1 cm tall with a 1.6 cm deep rim, a 1.0 cm rim width and a big bead on the bottom. It started out as Discraft's 2009 Ace Race prototype.

What this collection brings to your game:

  • Straight Putts: Smooth putts fly on a straight line and drop into the chains instead of drifting off.
  • Approach Control: The bit of stability keeps it from turning over on longer upshots and in a light breeze.
  • Soft Landings: The gentle fade brings it down softly, so missed putts and approaches don't skip far from the basket.

Choose the Right Focus Plastic

Every Focus flies 2 | 2 | -1 | 2. Here's how the plastics and runs we carry compare:

Baseline plastics

  • Discraft Focus - Putter Line, Putter Line Soft, Soft Swirl and Jawbreaker plastic. Grippy and affordable, and they season the fastest into a slightly straighter putter.

Signature runs

Special editions

Want a different putter? The Discraft Luna (3 | 3 | 0 | 3) is a little faster with more glide and a stronger fade, and the Discraft Zone (4 | 3 | 0 | 3) is Discraft's overstable approach disc for wind and forehands.

How this Category Aligns on the Fairway

The Focus is a putting putter first. Use it for straight putts inside the circle, circle 2 putts that need to hold a line, and short approaches where you want the disc to land soft and stay close. It also works off the tee on short holes, especially in the firmer CT and CryZtal plastics. Keep a Jawbreaker or Putter Line Focus for putting and a CT or CryZtal one for throwing, and grab a Zone when the wind picks up.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Discraft Focus

How do the different plastics change the Focus?

Every Focus is rated 2 | 2 | -1 | 2, but the plastic changes the feel and how long it stays that way. CT Swirl is the stiffest and most durable, so it keeps its flight the longest. CryZtal FLX Confetti is durable with a little flex. Jawbreaker is tacky and seasons gradually, and Putter Line and the Soft blends are the grippiest and season the fastest, so they get a little straighter as they wear in.

What weight Focus should I get?

Most Focus putters we stock are in the 170s. Heavier ones hold their line better in wind and on longer approaches. Lighter ones are a little easier to throw and float a touch more on soft putts. If you're not sure, a 172 to 175 gram Focus is a safe pick.

Is the Discraft Focus good for beginners?

Yes. It's slow, straight and only a little stable, so newer players can putt with it without fighting a hard fade. The deep rim and big bead give your fingers a consistent spot to grip. Pros use it too, including Anthony Barela and Ricky Wysocki.
