Discmania C-Line FD4 9 | 3 | 0 | 4
If the FD4 name doesn’t ring a bell, you probably know this absolute meat-hook by its old name: the Discmania Splice. Now officially transitioned into the Originals lineup, the FD4 is the exact same ultra-reliable, heavily overstable fairway driver you know and love. Designed to do the hard work in the air, it holds its line and fights the elements before fading out with serious authority. Whether you are staring down a massive headwind, navigating a tight dogleg, or just building out the ultimate utility slot in your Discmania bag, the FD4 is built to handle whatever you throw at it.
Flight Numbers & Performance
The FD4 operates on aggressive flight ratings of Speed: 9, Glide: 3, Turn: 0, and Fade: 4. It is designed to deliver maximum control, minimal glide, and a relentless fade.
| Speed | Glide | Turn | Fade |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9 | 3 | 0 | 4 |
How the FD4 dominates the course:
- Extreme Overstability: Significantly more overstable than the FD3, this is a dedicated workhorse utility disc for shots requiring heavy stability and a dumping finish.
- Forehand & Overhead Weapon: The flat profile and extreme torque resistance make it perfect for power sidearms, thumbers, and tomahawks that need to pan slowly and drop exactly on target.
- Wind-Fighting Reliability: The low glide rating means the wind simply cannot get under this disc. It cuts through stormy conditions and ignores headwinds completely.
The C-Line Plastic Advantage
Discmania’s Italian-made C-Line plastic is legendary for a reason. It is the most durable blend in their lineup, offering a firm, stiff feel in the hand and a striking translucent finish. Because this standard C-Line run is so rigid, the FD4 maintains its extreme overstability for countless rounds. When thrown on a hyzer, the firm rim naturally generates massive flare skips off the turf, allowing you to easily navigate around sharp corners and heavily guarded baskets.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Discmania FD4 and the Splice?
They are the exact same mold! Discmania simply moved the Splice over to their Originals naming convention. If you loved the Evolution Splice, the new FD4 will feel and fly exactly the same.
How does the FD4 compare to the FD3?
The FD4 is noticeably more overstable and features less glide than the FD3. While the FD3 can be used as a primary overstable driver for pushing down the fairway, the FD4 is a true utility disc designed to dump hard and fast. It bites significantly harder at the end of its flight.
How does standard C-Line fly compared to Flex 1?
Standard C-Line is significantly stiffer than the gummy Flex 1 plastic. While both are incredibly overstable, standard C-Line will generate much larger flare skips when it hits the ground on an angle, whereas Flex 1 is designed to hit the dirt and stick.
